This used to be a very useful app. Their "update" stripped virtually all functionality for the free version, and now its pretty much a useless bait and switch.
Like others have said here almost all functionality has been stripped from this app without the companion app for 50 bucks. I sent an email to the programmers and was told this app will no longer be updated or maintained. They want you to buy there more expensive version for 50 and there full blown version for 149.
This app did exactly what I wanted plus it was free — 5 stars! I was looking for an app to help me map the WIFI signal strength in my home and my backyard and this app does exactly that and it does it well. After reading some reveiws about features being moved to the paid version I was worried, but, it turns out there wasn’t a single feature that missing from the free version for me. One thing to know is that this app needs you to either provide or create a scale model of the area you are mapping. For me that was pretty easy as I had a PDF of my floor plan that I could save as a JPG and import to NetSpot. if you don’t have that already be prepared to spend a little time drawing your floor plan.
According to NetSpot, Apple places restrictions on their apps. The version you likely want is NetSpot Free available only off their web site. NOT from the App Store! I found this out only after buying the $49 version which also did not include the Discover mode which is what I suspect most people want for functionality. I recommend NetSpot remove their pay version from the App store and just use their free version to direct people to their web site. Very dissappointing.
This app is very useful and efficent. I like it because it helps me plan out where I want to put my wifi router. Download this and you will never have to move your router again.
where’s the map editor? there are tools to draw a very basic building map, but not enough for my needs. Other than this, awesome app! Bought the companion version with a more advanced export feature
great app, I downloaded and used it successfully an application that does exactly what you are looking for, how it works its pretty straightforward, you just need to do some step instructions that can be understood and unexpected result of good, it is a great app. Thank developers write applications useful
Not really helpful
When you launch the app, theres no way of knowing how it works. So you choose the Help menu, you got to a web page, and you find some help. The app there looks nothing like what I downloaded. After clicking around a bit, it turns out that the help is for the version sold directly, and the Mac App Store version doesnt have all the same features. (Not the developers fault, but still; they should have help for the MAS version.) Im not wasting my time trying to figure this out. Its only a buck.
What a great app. Going on to suggest to all my peps.
This application is excellent for mapping the office space and see how the wifi is doing. It’s an essence tool for determining the health of my networks. I recomand it.
This is a great app for me and everyone to use, this app is a features which any Mac device need it, it help WiFi to be better. After I had used this app, I thinked it’s good and I should share it with my friends, thank you.
NetSpot is an excellent tool for troubleshooting and managing Wi-Fi. It displays a large amount of data in a format with color-coding that is easy to understand. Easily identify busy and noisy channels to be avoided by sorting columns by SSID, Channel, SNR Level, Signal, Noise and many more. In my environment, channels 6, 11, 1 and 9 were problematic. Channel 3 is providing a strong and stable signal. Even without mapping, this is the best of the many Wi-Fi apps I have used. Highly recommend!
Great tool overall. All you need is your mac and this software to complete a WiFi survey. After a walking around it provides a heat map showing signal and the signal to noise ratio. It also shows any other networks in the area. So its easy to see what networks may be causing interference around you.
